Stone, glass, and mortar have, for millenia, made mosaics a many-faceted and enduring art form. Domenico Ghirlandaio (1449-1494) was even in the habit of saying that the art of mosaics was genuine and eternal painting.
For our mosaics, we use high-quality materials like hand-split marble and true hand-made Murano glass mosaic stones, or so-called “smalti.” These tessellated stones, with their irregularly broken edges, their wide colour palette and their unbelievable colour tones have become increasingly rarer, but also offer the most varied possibilities. Their use, however, requires knowledge of the most arcane mosaic techniques.
We at cosmomusivo work with tessellated stones, according to all the traditional methods for commercial, restoration, or artistic works. Together with artists, designers, and architects, we create works of art that last for eternity.
